The pressure is on in the canned & preserved foods competitions. Classes in this division include jams and jellies, pickles, vinegar, maple syrup and more.

Additional Rules for Canned & Preserved Foods

In the canned & preserved foods categories, only USDA approved methods of food preservation (pressure canning or hot water bath) are accepted. You may view the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning at: foodsafety.cas.psu.edu/canningguide.html

REGISTRATION

  • Opens: Monday, May 4
  • Closes: Tuesday, Aug. 4, 4:30 p.m.

EXHIBIT DELIVERY & RETURN

See the map of where to deliver exhibits.

  • Delivery:
    • Friday, Aug. 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Saturday, Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Sunday, Aug. 16, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Return:
    • Pick-Up of Judged Jars: Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1-6 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1-7 p.m. (no items returned before 1 p.m.)
    • Thursday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
