Combining Austin’s music experience with Taryn’s fresh new perspective, quarantined Durry siblings joined forces during the COVID pandemic to write and produce a collection of songs. Inspired by shared childhood experiences in the suburbs of Minneapolis, indie rock band Durry embraces a nostalgic yet honest look at the past and boundless hope for the future. Their song “Who’s Laughing Now” gained wide attention for going viral, resonating with millions of listeners, which led to their debut LP, “Suburban Legend.” Whether tackling romantic love, late-stage capitalism, mental health woes or teen nostalgia, the thread tying the album together is its utter relatability. With sophomore album “This Movie Sucks,” relatable themes augmented by Durry’s idiosyncratic sense of humor and the way these two siblings come together musically add a level of poignancy to the songs that is present through its most jubilant and vulnerable moments. Regardless of where you are in life – city or suburbs, school or work, or pursuing a creative dream of your own – Durry will meet you there with a wink and a high five.
