Aug. 21 – Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2025
62 Days 6 Hours 41 Mins
Princess Kay and her court each have their likenesses carved into a 90-pound block of butter by sculptor Gerry Kulzer. This tradition, dating back to 1965, honors contestants in the Midwest Dairy Princess Kay of the Milky Way competition. These young women serve as the goodwill ambassadors for Minnesota’s dairy farmers. Princess Kay’s likeness is carved over the first two days of the fair, followed by one of the finalists’ likenesses carved each day of the fair through Labor Day. The princess being sculpted and the sculptor rotate in a 40° display cooler and periodically answer questions from the audience. After the fair, each contestant takes home their sculpture to enjoy for years to come. Stop by the southeast corner of the Dairy Building to experience this udder-ly unique form of art!
9:00 am – 9:00 pm
