Milk Run 5K Race

Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Minnesota State Fair, the Milk Run will not be held in 2020. An email with further details and more information will be sent to all registered runners.

The annual 5K run begins and ends on the fairgrounds. The 2020 Milk Run takes place on Sunday, Aug. 30. The course winds its way through the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota and the St. Anthony Park neighborhood. The entry fee is $40. Each participant receives admission to the fair, a Milk Run T-shirt, a malt coupon, a breakfast sandwich and the opportunity to win door prizes.

Registration for the 2020 Milk Run opened at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, and is now full. The race is limited to the first 1,500 entrants, and every year it fills up quickly. Early registration is recommended. The 2020 Milk Run fee is non-refundable if the race occurs.

General Information

Time: 7:45 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020

Course: The 5K certified course begins near Gate 18 on Randall Avenue, winds through St. Anthony Park and the U of M-St. Paul Campus and finishes back at the start.

Time Limit: Due to high traffic volumes during the State Fair, the race course can only be kept open for a maximum of 1 hour after the 7:45 a.m. start. ALL competitors MUST complete the course in 60 minutes or less.

Age Categories for 2020: 19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Awards: Awards go to the top three men and women in each age category. Champion awards will be presented to the top five men and top five women overall.

Participants Receive: A Milk Run T-shirt, an admission ticket to the fair, a malt coupon, breakfast sandwich and a chance for door prizes.

Strollers and Wagons: Due to safety and liability concerns, strollers and wagons are not allowed in the Milk Run.

Results: Results will be posted following the race in front of the Administration Building across from the Bandshell (see a State Fair map), as well as at

  • Male and Female Overall Winners (live following the race)

Runner Packets: Race number, instructions, maps and tickets will be mailed to all runners by the end of June. Race numbers are NON-TRANSFERABLE.
