Summer Job Opportunities at the Minnesota State Fair

These Minnesota State Fair departments often have summer job opportunities available that run from June through September.

Please note that this is a partial list of possible summer jobs and is subject to change. Summer job openings are posted on the Career Portal when they are available. Applicants hired for the departments below are employed by the Minnesota State Fair.

Competition: Support the entry process to ensure a positive experience for the more than 30,000 exhibitors in the wide variety of competitions held during the Minnesota State Fair. Responsibilities include answering phones and emails, performing data entry into multiple systems, processing and validating entry information, recording results of the competitions and providing other administrative support.

Employment Services: Assist applicants throughout the hiring process to help ensure a positive and productive experience at the Employment Center. The Minnesota State Fair hires nearly 3,000 employees annually through the Employment Center to work the 12 days of the fair.

Finance: Assist the finance department with processing of accounts payable, data entry and processing confidential employment information into the payroll system, and other administrative functions.

Foundation: Assist the Foundation team with data entry, donor communication, special events, planning and general office support. The Foundation hosts several special events for donors throughout the summer in addition to participation in the annual State Fair. Data entry could include donations, event registrations, Friends of the Fair memberships, and information for recognition bricks and benches.

Greenhouse: Assist with care and upkeep of Minnesota State Fair gardens and the greenhouse. Duties also include planting, watering, weeding, fertilizing and mulching gardens.

Marketing: Assist the department with various tasks, including creating written content for digital and printed publications, data entry, social media, general office support and more.

Operations: Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance of the fairgrounds while working in a fast-paced team environment. Duties may include maintenance of grounds, buildings, lawn, and setup and tear down for non-fair events.

Purchasing: Assist with ordering and delivering products for the Minnesota State Fair. Duties also include shopping at stores and buying and delivering products to end source.

Sign Shop: Assist our in-house sign shop as they gear up for the fair. Use your skills to creatively apply brand guidelines, taking projects from concept to completion.

Ticket Office: Assist with ticket sales for the Minnesota State Fair, including Grandstand concert tickets and gate admission tickets via in-person sales and fulfillment of online and mail orders. Answer guests’ questions regarding events, tickets and entertainment schedules while providing exceptional customer service for a diverse customer base.
