TALENT CONTESTS

The following information applied to the 2017 fair. We'll update 2018 details in the spring and summer!

The Minnesota State Fair hosts two talent contests:

  • MSF Amateur Talent Contest (Sponsored by JACK'S® Pizza): Semifinals are at 6 p.m. on the Leinie Lodge Bandshell stage Aug. 24 – Sept. 2 (U26 on the State Fair map). Nightly first-place winners advance to the finals, which are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at the Grandstand (N24 on the State Fair map). Watch the semifinals and finals free with your fair admission.
  • MSF County Fair Talent Contest: County fairs throughout Minnesota send winners of their amateur talent contests to the State Fair competition. Semifinals are held at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 – Sept. 1 at the State Fair on the Family Fair Stage at Baldwin Park (U17 on the State Fair map) with nightly winners advancing to the finals at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2. The top two finalists in each division then advance to the State Fair Amateur Talent Contest finals at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at the Grandstand (N24 on the State Fair map). Watch the semifinals and finals free with your fair admission.
