Best Spots for Evening Entertainment and Cold Beer by State Fair Girl

  1. Cafe Caribe
    This is the place for the beer drinker and reggae music-lover in all of us. Dancing and fantastic people-watching too! A fun and tropical atmosphere!
  2. The Garden
    Wash down a Chicago Dog or boat of jambalaya with a Beer-garita from Tejas or cold domestic from either of the other two vendors inside. Stay for the karaoke or venture outside to the Ball Park Cafe's amazing patio where you can watch a Twins or Vikes game.
  3. Coasters
    Enjoy the twinkling lights of the midway while you sit and sip your brew in an old Tilt-A-Whirl car.
  4. Leinie Lodge Bandshell
    Ice-cold Leinie's in several varieties and the Bandshell Tonight series with acts like Boyz II Men, The Lost Trailers, Family Stone, Rosanne Cash, etc. make this a must-stop spot after 8 p.m.

Great Fair Get-Aways by Jill Hentges

  1. Fine Arts Building
    This is the get-away to cultured culture. Slip into the Fine Arts Building and slip away from the manic pace for a bit and enjoy a relaxed and refined stroll amidst the beautiful works of fine artists. you almost forget you are at a fair until you recognize the ribbons. The bathrooms in here are mighty fine too.
  2. Grandstand Plaza
    Sneak away with your roasted corn and sit among the commemorative bricks and gorgeous landscaping. This is a beautiful spot to sit and catch your breath.
  3. Front Row at the Bandshell
    Park yourself in the front row of the bandshell and enjoy top notch entertainment all day long. The eclectic combination of local artists and national acts is a treat from sun up to sundown.
  4. On a Burlap Sack Rolling the Giant Slide
    Saving the best for last, there's no get-away quite like escaping your chronological age and time by triggering a flashback down the giant slide. Hold on tight and be sure to time your screams with the placement of the dangling microphones.

    Check out all the exhibits and what's happening around the state! Lots of 'Learning by doing!'
  2. Cattle and Swine Bard
    Who can resist seeing the largest boar or all the different cows?
  3. Educational Building
    So much to see and learn--kids won't even notice they are learning!
  4. Poultry and Rabbits Exhibit
    Cute rabbits and exotic poultry breeds--need I say more?

  1. Scavenger Hunt
    My grandkids love to do this. It also is very exciting to complete it and know you made it around the entire fair.
  2. Sky Ride
    I have to ride this every year. I take pictures from really high up!
  3. Bazzar
    Most amazing shopping place at the fair. Very entertaining too.
  4. Dairy Building
    Milk Milk Milk........YEAH Lots of Milk to go with those Marthas Cookies
