Hanson Family Tradition by Katie Hanson

Category: Miscellaneous

  1. Family Tradition
We have been attending the MN State Fair as a family for over 28 years straight!
  2. Food, Food and more Food
No one can beat all the food the MN State Fair has to offer! Some of our favorites include: Pork Chops on a stick, Corn on the Cob, Corn Fritters and who can forget Pronto Pups!
  3. People Watching
We spend over 10 hours at the fair every Saturday of Labor Day weekend and there is nothing we enjoy more than parking ourselves on a bench with a beer in hand and enjoy all the people who come out to the fair!
  4. Shopping and Wandering throughout the buildings
Who says you can't find deals at the MN State Fair? I am pretty sure we have purchased every gadget from the QuickChop to Sham-Wows! We also love to wander through all the buildings and check out the latest technology and even be brave enough to weigh ourselves in the Education Building!

  1. Deep Fried Pickles
At the fair they are unlike anywhere else. But you don't need anything but the original becuase they are sooooo good.
  2. Footlong Hot dogs
But not just any footlong stand only the white stands with red lettering on the signs!!! Especially Speedy's stand near the DNR building!
  3. Potato Skins
They are the best around- loaded "Fair Special" located in the food building.
  4. Kiwanis Malts
Chocolate is my favorite but all flavors are good. They are truly the only malt at the fair that tastes "malty"

The Top 4 Food Stalls You MUST Try by Katie Schmalz

Category: Food

  1. Salem Lutheran Church Dining Hall
The first place that you need to visit is the Salem Lutheran Church dining hall. It has been around for years. Its a great sit down dining location and is one of the few stands to actually offer breakfast. I personally love the Meatball Sundae, a giant meatball on top of mashed potatoes. There is also their special Swedish egg coffee to try.
  2. All You Can Drink Milk Stall
For $1, you can refill your cup of nice cold refeshing milk throughout your entire day at the fair. Chocolate milk is even available! The milk is great with your Sweet Martha Cookies! ;)
  3. Sweet Marthas Cookies
The best cookies in the fair! You must try them. The line may be long but it goes very quickly since there are so many cookie makers. Pair it with your all you can drink milk!
  4. Australian Potatoes
North side of Judson near corner of Judson and Clough. It has yummy sliced potatoes, battered and deep fried then topped with cheese or ranch sauce. It even comes with a little souvenir flag of Australia. You wouldn't expect getting that in Minnesota.
