Category: Food

  1. fish
Giggles walleye, wild rice and caprese on a stick w/balsamic vinegar reduction are something I'd eat at a nice restaurant.
  2. Cinnamon rolls
Cinnie Smiths have lots of cinn. and I often feel cinn rolls don't have enough. These were great.
  3. cookies
    Sweet Martha choco chip
  4. coffee
Farmer's Union is very good coffee and the frappes are mighty good on a hot day. They also have a nice quiet place to sit in the back.

  1. AFL-CIO building
Some of the best musicians at the Fair, Twin Cities Federation of Musicians members playing all kinds of music, and many other trades represented giving help, information and history of the American labor movement.
  2. 4H building
The kid who made the dragon from plastic utensils is brilliant, and there are many impressive projects from kids who give me hope for the future. impressive competitions at Hippodrome (Coliseum)
  3. poultry barn
Love those fancy birds. They look like Vegas show girls!
  4. Ag Hort displays
So much to see! Bonsai, orchids beer apples honey, and of course, crop art. I think the same portraits of Van Gogh and Lincoln are there every year, but the thistle halter top was priceless.

It's a TRADITION! by DeDe

Category: Miscellaneous

  1. Simply Nuts
Do you remember seeing a woman and two teenagers laughing hysterically outside the coliseum several years ago? Husbands should remember to wear belts before holding out their hands for samples. I'm not sure who was more surprised-the vendor, the husband or the family!! It still brings LOTS of laughs!
  2. The Midway
Another helpful tip-Either bring a backpack or another method of holding on to all your valuables. Moms that try and minimize their belongings are lucky that the midway workers are so honest and will retrieve their wallets and money when they drop out onto the seats.
  3. You walk a lot at the fair
My son's girlfriend found out how serious we take the fair the first year she went with us. Comfortable shoes, a lot of stamina and knowing that you'll be looking at the back side of the mom for most of the day if you don't pick it up and move. This fair thing is once a year-we've got a lot to see!!!
  4. It's a family tradition
From the double stroller with 3 kids in it to everyone bringing a significant other, this has been a tradition for almost 20 years and we've doubled the people we bring.
