The State Fair; It's Not Just for the Food by Kathy Fischer

Category: Miscellaneous

  1. The Sights, Sounds, Smells
The State Fair marks a place in time for me - a transition from the heat of August to the cool, crisp days of fall. The sounds of kids laughing; the Mighty Midway screams among the blaring music from the rides; the parades; and the occasional tree toad singing out from the great trees that line the streets, are some of the sounds I look forward to every year. And who doesn't enjoy the smells of fried onions and hot dogs, chocolate chip cookies and hamburgers permeating the air as one makes their way throughout the streets. And lastly, the great anticipation for the next Minnesota State Fair to return once again when summer fades into autumn.
  2. Education Building
Where else in one building can one find such a vast array of information - from where to attend college to information on your health!
  3. Corn at the Corn Roast - Hot & Buttered!
The greatest treat at the fair - don't have to schuck it, cook it, salt or butter it - and when you have "mowed" down the last row, it's also recyclable!!
  4. Pronto Pup
This is a must have, always great - with mustard or ketchup!

The Real Best Fair Foods List by Michelle and Sean

Category: Food

  1. Vegie Fries
I know, who wants to eat vegies at the fair, right? But they are unbelievably good! You have to try them. Dip them in ranch dressing!
  2. Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin
These can be found at the beer counter in the International Bazaar. Really, really tasty. I usually have two per day.
  3. Chicago Dog
Another deceiver. It sounds weird, and has weird stuff on it like cucumbers, tomatoes, and hot peppers, but OMG you won't believe how tasty it is. Makes for a good breakfast!
  4. French Crepes
These are a must have. The ham and swiss is my favorite but the chicken pesto is also nice. Of course the fruit crepes with whipped creme are good for the sweet tooth in your group.
