Leinie Lodge: Tonic Sol-fa
The longest running act at the State Fair and still one of the best. I make it a point to go to the fair just to see them and schedule my entire day around their performance(s).
Local News Broadcasts
I'm partial to KARE11 news, but you can have a good time at nearly any of them. Check their websites because they usually can give you a heads up on what might be special about each broadcast.
Leinie Lodge @ Night
Cant' afford the Grandstand or no appealing acts? Usually, the bandshell at night line-up is great. I've seen many different acts over the years and a few have won me over as a fan from the first note or drum beat.
Any Bench You Can Find: People
Let's face it, many of us go to the fair for the people watching. The population that the State Fair draws in is an attraction in itself! Mullets, and flip-flops and people who shouldn't be wearing tube tops! :)
Places I love to visit by Dawn Anderson
For a turkey leg of course.
For olives on a stick.
The Food Building
Just for all the smells.
The Horticulture Building
Have to have the bag of apples for home and a frozen cider to walk around with.
Places I Call Home by Vanessa Bjerke
Leinie Lodge Bandshell
Home to some of the best free entertainment at the fair - including, my favorite, the nightly Amateur Talent Contest.
Giggles Campfire Grill
Home to the most delicious footlong walleye sandwich you'll ever taste. Take a peek around the back to enjoy some time eating on the picnic tables - there is always room!
Creative Activities Building
Home to the homemade. Take a walk through the maze of quilts, pies, jams, and other homemade goodies. Pretty amazing stuff...
Fine Arts Building
Home to the art. My favorites tend to be the photographs. It's a nice place to take a break from the sun.
Pig-A-Thon by FairGoer
Thin, hot pizza every time. Only cheese or pepperoni to pick from. Always fresh. Gotta have it every time.
Honey Ice Cream
The best ice cream from the horticulture building. I can never choose from vanilla or chocolate fudge, must have both.
Deep Fried Fruit
Tastes just like pie! This is a new fave.
Love the tacos from the stand on the SW corner on the outside corner of the food building. This is a must for every visit too. It's the only taco stand I have found that has hard shell tacos.
