What we miss.... by Phillip
Now called Cafesjian's Carousel, it was a center point of every State Fair visit.
The real Machinery Hill
Loaded with a multitude of farm equipment, silos to walk through and various farm tractors we could climb onto....can you say awesome!
All you can drink milk
Yes, it's still there, but now it costs almost as much as a gallon of ........
Yes it was noisy and kicked up a little dust, but for a little boy growing up, it was the best.
ONLY FOUR?! by Lori Long
Ice Cream in the Dairy Building
Ya just gotta hit the Dairy Building! The lines actually move fast as you near the counter for your choice of a Sundae or Malt or Shake .... Well worth the effort! PLUS, you get to see the Princess Kay butter sculptures!
Tom Thumb Mini-Donuts
As an early morning fair arriver (is that a word?) I need to start my MN State Fair experience with an over abundance of sugar!
Can't help myself. Just have to have 'em!
Sweet Martha's Cookies
This is my "end-of-the-day" treat. I'm totally not hungry by the end of my day, so I buy a bucket (you really can't go any smaller!) of cookies. I'll have 1 or 2 before I even leave the stand; a handful for the ride home and the rest for my day-after-the-Stair-Fair letdown!
Old School Fair Classics by Todd Sheedy
"About a..." Foot Long Hot Dog
Hands down the best deal at the Fair. Super tasty piled up with all the grilled onions you want and as much mustard/ketchup as you can handle. Yum, I can't wait.
Champion Root Beer
Made exclusively for the Fair since the 1920's, they serve it out of chilled wooden barrels. A nice cold refresher on those hot Fair days. It's like I'm ten all over again :)
Tiny Tim/Tom Thumb donughts
Piled high in a wax paper bag and piping hot, these sweet little juicy grease morsels were born to be with all-you-can-drink milk. Absolutely awesome!
Cheese Curds (I just had to)
Another greaser full of goodness. Fresh out of the fryer, these salty-savory bites squeak when you chew them they're that fresh. And that gush of melty cheese after you crunch down on the crispy outside is pure State Fair!
Shaved Ice By the Coliseum by Kevin
The one next to the coliseum where the horses warm up is the best. It's the only authentic Shaved Ice at the fair. A must have on a warm day. So good.
Andy's Philly Cheese Steak
The only thing they need to add is cheese wiz...
