Mornings at the fair
There is nothing like getting in the fair before the other 95% of that day's go-ers get near the gates. There is a certain comraderie among those that seek out breakfast as soon as the booths begin to open.
Yearly new food items
Yes we have our favorites but it is always an adventure seeking out the year's new delights. This year we enjoyed chicken fried bacon.
Whether you say you are 'saving calories all week' or 'walking it off by being at the fair all day,' everyone has their way of justifying it. Let's face it, we all have our favorites and we all over-indulge because On-A-Stick only comes once per year. (See, there it is again)
Lets face it, everybody does it. I'm sure people have watched us too.

4 Ways the MN State Fair Influenced My Life by Kristen Wollin
The art building, henna tattoos, bonsai trees, Greek Gyros, Salsa dancers, African music... I credit the MN State Fair with introducing me to a multitude of new cultural experiences.
Take a 12-year old 4-Her from rural Minnesota, plop her down in 320 acres of city, give her a map and a 9pm curfew and see what happens!
The Drive to Learn and Create
Growing up, a trip to the State Fair was an honor granted to those 4-Hers who could demonstrate knowledge, skill and creativity in a certain area. Trips were coveted and there was only one way to earn a trip: hard work.
My First Job
I still can't believe that I got my "dream job" right out of college. Working at the MN State Fair allowed me to share my passion with others and I'll never forget the feeling of being a part of something so special.

Miracle of Birth
Each year I have to take a picture of the mother sows with their piglets, they are so adorable!
Under the Grand Stand, I find the greatest shoes at "Shoes to Boot". Then after shopping we have to take a family picture, just as my 92 year old Grandmother did 74 years ago. (the grand stand still looks the same).
A great family affair. Our 6 year old daughter has to make a separate trip down with Mom and then with Dad.
A great finale to the fun filled day.
