Four amazing must-haves at the Fair! by Kristin
Cream cheese-filled deep fried pickles
Go for the "gourmet" or whatever they're called. They're deep-fried pickle chips filled with cream cheese. I don't even like dill pickles, and I can't get enough of these! Try them with a splash of hot sauce and dipped in the ranch dipping sauce.
Alligator bites with hush puppies and frozen grapes
The alligator bites from Bayou Bob's shack near the Grandstand are divine! Get them with a side of hush puppies and some icy frozen grapes, and you have a fantastic meal.
Caramel apple in a bowl with cinnamon ice cream
This is a fair favorite, and I always stop for a bowl before I leave for the day. There's nothing better than crunchy apples, sweet caramel sauce, and spicy cinnamon ice cream to end the day.
Find this gem in the International Bazaar. They have HUGE woks they cook the noodles in, and you get good-sized portions for a great price. The flavor is exquisite, and you even get some veggies in there, too. It's a perfect meal at the Fair and a great break from all the fried food.

Sweet Martha's Cookies

Sweet Patato Pie
Always tastes great.
Cathy's Chow at the Fair by Cathy D.
Honey Ice Cream
My gotta-have food every year! Soooo good on a hot day! My favorite is with sunflower seeds. In a cone or a dish, it's de-lish! At the Ag-Hort building on Judaon & Underwood. Follow the promenade walkway on the outside of the building along Judson & look for the Honey exhibit & counter.
Wild Rice/Blueberry pancake breakfast
I start my day at the Fair off right with a good breakfast at the Robbinsdale OES dining hall. REAL Minnesota wild rice or blueberry (the state berry) stack of 'cakes with all the sides. Made to order by friendly folks. Other breakfast selections, lunch & dinner too. Family style indoor seating. Located on Underwood mid-block between Dan Patch & Carnes Ave. Next to Crossroads Chapel & Fan Central.
Mini-cinnamon rolls & Farmers coffee
Cinnie Smith's little rolls are my special treat at the Fair. It's a good walk up to the Pet center area, but it sharpens my appetite. You can smell the yummy aroma a block away. Watch 'em being made & baked in front of your eyes, then enjoy! I can't eat just one. Goes great with a fresh-brewed fair trade coffee from the Farmers Union coffee bar. Then, I rest my feet on the benches & enjoy while listening to folk music. Cinnie Smith's is on Murphy & Underwood across from the Pet center. Farmers Union is on Dan Patch, between Cooper & Cosgrove, about 1.5 blks from the main entrance.
fresh corn on the cob at Corn Roast
What could be more 'summer' than fresh corn on the cob? It's worth waiting in line for a hot buttery ear. Sprinkle with salt & taste the sweetness. One of the best Fair foods ever! Look for the giant ear of corn sign on the corner of Dan Patch & Nelson, across from the Grandstand Plaza.
