Why even go if you're not gonna get theses! by mcjulie

Category: Food

  1. Cheese Curds
The original and best place to get your fix of cheese! Yum. It is accompanied nicely with the next item listed....
  2. Lemonade
You just can't make it like this at home. So delicious and thrirst quenching!
  3. Corn on Stick
Wow....deliciously sweet corn dipped in a vat of melted butter and sprinkled with salt. It doesn't get any better than that!
  4. Sweet Marthas Cookies!!!
The epitomy of all State Fair foods! Warm, milk chocolate cookies that melt in your mouth. Our tradition is to bring them to the all you can drink milk truck. Even non milk lovers can't seem to get enough of the stuff once eaten with Sweet Marthas cookies. Sooo yummmy. And no, they are not the same once you get them home in a bucket...good yes, but not nearly as good as fresh at the Fair! Definitely a must have for my family!

Dave's favorite four by Dave Coates

Category: Miscellaneous

  1. Animal barns
No trip to the State Fair is complete for me without at least a visit to the horse barn--this just makes me happy. The shows and judging are pluses.
  2. Wonders of Technology
Something new and different every year here.
  3. Creative Activities
It's just neat to see all of the things people come up with in the different categories the fair has in this building. I especially enjoy looking at the philately exhibit each year.
  4. Food and Drink
I have to make sure to consume a foot-long hot dog with mustard and onions, an order of cheese curds, an order of fresh-cut french fries, and at least two cups of honey lemonade from the stand in Ag-Hort before I leave. Other things are optional, but I've been known to hit up Peter's chili dog stand and the OES Dining Hall on occasion, especially when I used to work at the fair.

Four amazing must-haves at the Fair! by Kristin

Category: Food

  1. Cream cheese-filled deep fried pickles
Go for the "gourmet" or whatever they're called. They're deep-fried pickle chips filled with cream cheese. I don't even like dill pickles, and I can't get enough of these! Try them with a splash of hot sauce and dipped in the ranch dipping sauce.
  2. Alligator bites with hush puppies and frozen grapes
The alligator bites from Bayou Bob's shack near the Grandstand are divine! Get them with a side of hush puppies and some icy frozen grapes, and you have a fantastic meal.
  3. Caramel apple in a bowl with cinnamon ice cream
This is a fair favorite, and I always stop for a bowl before I leave for the day. There's nothing better than crunchy apples, sweet caramel sauce, and spicy cinnamon ice cream to end the day.
  4. Island noodles
Find this gem in the International Bazaar. They have HUGE woks they cook the noodles in, and you get good-sized portions for a great price. The flavor is exquisite, and you even get some veggies in there, too. It's a perfect meal at the Fair and a great break from all the fried food.
