Some of My Best Memories by Kathy Kuehn
My dad always entered the stained glass competition every year and came away with many blue ribbons. Once I learned the craft, I began to enter and was thrilled to win my first blue ribbon!
When I was a kid my girlfriend lived about 3 blocks from the fair. Every year I would stay with her during fair week. At night we could hear the grandstand shows through her window. I still remember hearing the Supremes concert back in the 1960's!
Many great memories of the Royal American Shows of the past, the double ferris wheel rides at night, winning huge stuffed animals, and introducing my kids to the midway and arcade games when they were young!
Needless to say, the food choices get better and better every year. In fact, this year my son is working for a new vendor who will be selling hot apple dumplings! YUM.
Becky's Must Do List by Becky
Agriculture & Horticulture Building
So much to see - Crop Art, Scarecrows, bees, largest produce and more! Don't forget to buy the kids an apple and some honey ice cream with sunflower seeds.
Danielson's and Daughters Onion Rings
Always my first stop on my first visit of the year. Outside of the Food Building with the largest, best deal on Coke and Pepsi just inside the Food Building makes for the best breakfast ever!
Tried this with a coupon from the Blue Ribbon Book several years ago and now it is a 'must have' every year.
Music and More!
All the free concerts and shows are awesome - especially Tonic Sol-fa! No matter how many times I visit the Fair every year, I never have the time to see all of the shows I wanted to see.
Autumn Sun by Autumn Sun
Apple Cider Popsicle
nothing more satiating after walking in the crowds and heat. my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I try to save room in my belly for two rounds!
New Food Items
I'll never forget the Goulash on a Stick (unfortunately), but I'm up for trying something new and funny!
Talent Show Finals
SO many memories... there's been the great, the interesting and the painful. but all entertaining! a personal family tradition even if I nearly always disagree with the judges, but I stay for the fireworks anyway. =)
Fair to partly cloudy.. by Tim Beno
every year when I go, I have to have several food items, and a cup of fresh fries is definitely one of them.
Mn state fair is possibly one of the best place for people watching..grab a corn dog, find a bench, and enjoy..!!
it may seem lame to some, but it is definitely one of the safest rides, and I go on it every year. not sure why..
new on a stick..
I do try to find the new "on a stick" menu item to try. and of course the old reliable, corn dog is a must..
