A 4Her's Favorites! by Rena
This will be my 4th year showing chickens in 4H. I love it so much, and can't wait for this year! Wish me luck! I got Grand Champion Brown Egg Production Pen in 2007.
Hanging out with Friends on the Grounds and in the Dorms
4th year going to the State Fair as a 4Her. I love hanging out with the kids that have been showing longer than I have, and helping out the newcomers. I'm a little disappointed about less dorm space this year, but I got a trip, so it will be amazing! I look forward to the State Fair every year! Hanging out with friends is the best at the fair! And we play spoons in the colosseum... I might see you there, I'll be in the large, screaming group :)
Midnight Stroll to Sweet Martha's Cookies
I love going to get a bucket of cookies with my friend, but she can't go this year, because she tore her acl. But that is a great memory. Best cookies ever!
Barn meals, cheese curds, corn on the cob, Sweet Martha's cookies, milkshakes, Cinnabon, and EVERYTHING ELSE AT THE FAIR! I can not wait!!!
4H exhibitor's top 4 list! by Rena
4H exhibitors only! Must have a 4H button to get in, but they are the best thing ever! Livestock exhibitor dance in the swine barn, general project dances in the 4H building. If you are a fellow exhibitor, you can't miss these!
Allergies in the Goat Barn
My friends show goats, and I'm always in the goat barn, but I have allergies. Oh well, its totally worth it!
Education Building, and other Free Stuff
Can't wait to go on another search for all the free stuff we can find with my friends this year! The printout from the state fair website is very helpful! Wait in line for an hour to spin a wheel! I hope I don't leave all my goodies in the 4H dorm again :(
I love washing my chickens at the State fair, and listening to people's comments "wow, look at her, she's washing a chicken!" Yes, chickens have to be clean for shows too.

Four Favorite Years by Sara
1989 ... NKOTB at the Grandstand
I was only 12. My mom took my best friend and I to see the New Kids on the Block at the Grandstand. Tiffany & Tommy Page were the opening acts. I'll never forget the experience... My first *rock* concert.
199-something... The Teen Years
Every summer my church's youth-group went to the fair. We had "adult" chaperones & we were all grouped with 3 or 4 friends and an adult... My b/f/f and I always spent the time ditching our chaperone & looking for cute boys (that we would never EVER dare talk to.). Amazingly - the chaperone always found us.
2002 - Weight Watchers and the Fair
The ultimate oxymoron? My hubby & I were determined to enjoy the fair while being faithful to our Weight-loss program. We printed out a list of fair-foods and their approximate W.W. points-value (do NOT ask about the cheese-curds). Nothing like sharing one Strawberry Malt at the Dairy Barn! We did it! Stayed in points (& continued to loose almost 200 pounds together that year)
2006 - Doctor's Permission
I was 8 1/2 months pregnant during the 2006 fair. My husband and mother would not allow me to go without the permission of my doctor. Doc gave me the green light and said "Watch what you eat & take it slow... rest often".
