The Aisle of Breeds, sponsored by the Minnesota Horse Expo and the Minnesota Horse Council, is located in the center aisle of the Horse Barn and showcases different breeds and types of horses throughout the 12 days of the State Fair. Be sure to stop by to meet the horses and their owners, get answers to your equine questions, pet a horse or two and find out where to take horseback riding lessons in Minnesota or go for a trail ride.

Horse breeds rotating through the Aisle of Breeds during the State Fair may include Peruvian, Norwegian Fjord, Paso Fino, Cleveland Bay, Pintabian, Pinto, Appaloosa, Percheron, Quarter Horse, American Bashkir Curly, Clydesdale, Paint, Rocky Mountain Saddlehorse, Standardbred and more.


  • Sunday, Aug. 28 - All barns, except the Horse Barn and CHS Miracle of Birth Center close early on Sunday, Aug. 28  for Livestock Arrival & Departure.
  • Thursday, Sept. 1 - All barns, except the Horse Barn & the Poultry Barn and CHS Miracle of Birth Center, close early on Thursday, Sept. 1 for Livestock Arrival & Departure.
  • Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5 - All barns close by 5 p.m.
